This “one of a kind” single family residence in Springdale, Arkansas blends with the landscape while making its presence known. Built on the bank of a spring fed pond. It is anchored into the land with 5' of its main living space below ground level. The contrast between the heavily weighted concrete walls, shou sugi ban siding, and the expansive glass openings presents a solid mass with voids. It sparks curiosity and draws you in from the outside and calls you out from the inside. There was intentionality and efficiency with every component of this build. Being only 2,800 square feet of heated and cooled space, it provides just the right amount of functional space for the owners.
