The Mooney Family approached Reform Contracting in the summer of 2014 to help them design/build an addition that would help open up their 1700 sq ft ranch style house and connect it to the outdoors. They wanted to connect their small living room to an outdoor living area that would allow the living room to double in size when the weather was nice. We ended up designing/building a 300 sq ft screened in porch and 550 sq ft open deck that connected to the existing living room by a 12 ft large glass folding partition door. We decided to go with a screened in porch to protect the living spaces from the many native Arkansas insects. The folding partition door was a key feature in making the new addition feel like an extension of the existing living room. When the door is fully open the existing living room and the new outdoor screened in porch are completely opened to each other giving the illusion that they are one room. The new adjacent deck is connected to the screened in porch through two face mounted sliding doors that when open create an 7' opening. The three spaces connect seamlessly together creating a nice flow from inside to outside.
